The "Service to the Military" volunteer worker who serves as the "official" link to the military is Virgie Florence Wells. If a person serving in the military has an emergency and needs to reach family at home, or if a family here at home has an emergency or a death and they need to contact their family member in the military service, "official" contact can be made by calling (859) 234-4651, day or night. If an emergency occurs during a working day call (859) 234-3533 and ask for Ms. Wells. There is no charge for this service. Ms. Wells has served in this capacity since 1978.

Ms. Wells also files claims for veteran's and their dependants with the American Red Cross in the Dept. Of Veteran's Affairs, Louisville, Kentucky. There is no fee for this work, Call Ms. Wells at (859) 234-4651 after 7:00 P.M. for an appointment.

The American Red Cross sponsors swimming lessons every summer. Ms. Laura Hendricks is in charge of the American Red Cross Swimming Program. She has a great staff of very competent volunteers dedicated to teach people to swim. There is no fee charged for the lessons. Lessons are given at the Cynthiana - Harrison County Swimming Pool.
