Letter from the Executive Director
June 2008
I have been in the position of Executive
Director for just over a year now. So much has happened in that time frame! I have been faced with learning new things about our community, trying to increase Chamber Memberships, and continuing the Events the town has come to expect.
I had been working with Fifth Third Bank, since late last summer, with the idea that the former 5/3 Bank Building would be a wonderful place for the Chamber of Commerce & Visitors’ Center. A place was needed that was more accessible for town residents and lost travelers.
You can imagine the Chamber Board’s excitement and gratitude when the donation of this building was finalized. I am thrilled that the Chamber of Commerce will be able to offer new opportunities through the utilization of this ideal location.
I am hoping that our Chamber members of local industries provide displays to put in our lobby, so that passers-by can see what our town offers. I encourage Chamber members of small businesses to provide brochures, flyers, or even business cards, so that they will be available for the public and for relocation packets.
Although Fifth Third Bank donated this building to the Chamber of Commerce, I am hoping that our community feels a sense of ownership as well. It has been my deepest wish that the citizens of our town have a place to go, to congregate, and to share thoughts; a common place to help us all feel connected; a place where our sense of community pride begins to be rekindled. I think our new Chamber of Commerce building will be able to help us achieve this.
A Coffee Shop ~ The Vault~, will be opening in the lobby area later this summer. This will enable the Chamber building to remain open throughout the day, even when I am busy elsewhere. The details for this are still in the planning phase, but I am very excited that this small service will increase foot traffic. In turn, I am hoping the foot traffic will increase potential patrons by the downtown shops/businesses.
To all the Chamber Members, I wish to send my sincere gratitude for standing by and supporting the Chamber. It is this support that provides the opportunity for growth. The Chamber’s successes are directly related to its Members. I am very pleased that our Members are hard-working and dedicated, and that our Membership is continuing to grow.
I encourage each of you to stop in, and see the progress.
Sincerely,
Pat Grenier
