HARRISON COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT
2001 YEAR-END UPDATE

Station No. 4 is a reality with your help!

Season's greetings to everyone! So much has been said about the events of, and since, September 11, 2001. Our country has witnessed great tragedy and immeasurable loss. But our nation is more unified than it has been since World War II. There is little we can add, except to say how thankful, proud and blessed we are to be citizens of this country.

Each year, we ask you to remember us in your generosity, and each year you have. We would like to say, first, THANK YOU! As many of you are aware, we've completed construction of our new station No. 4 in Buena Vista!

This year, our letter to you is different. We will not recount all the work that has been done, the number of fires and emergencies responded to, or the financial needs for basic operation and continued improvement in services to you. Instead, we want to share not our words, but yours. We believe the letter below speaks more than facts, figures and statistics.

For those of you who have generously given through the years even when you couldn't see the many benefits your generosity provided, we thank you deeply. For those who have never given, won't you consider giving even a small donation and join the others in our county to help make your home and community safer?

We thank everyone who has expressed their appreciation, both in words and in financial generosity. We ask each of you to continue to remember us with your tax deductible contribution.

The Harrison County Fire Department is not a 11 government organization." We are a small group of citizens who voluntarily give of our time away from family and friends. As a strictly charitable organization composed solely of volunteers, no member receives any pay whatsoever. For most of us, there is no other fire protection available. We want the same protection for your homes and families as we do for our own.

We appreciate every donation we receive, regardless of the amount. Whatever you can afford, your participation is greatly appreciated.

To the Harrison County Fire Dept.:

Our family has only positive comments to make concerning the HCFD. Several years ago one of our barns was struck by lightning. Although the barn could not be saved, the volunteers worked tirelessly to prevent the fire (on a windy day) from reaching the house. Thanks for being there for us and all of the county as well! Recently a new fire station was added at Buena Vista, which not only improves our fire protection but in return, lowers our insurance premium! Thank you, thank you, and may God bless!
