THE HOMEMAKER

For every Homemaker, who has ever carried a bucket of water from the cistern, or the well
For every Homemaker, who has ever rung the dinner bell,
For every Homemaker, who has hoed the garden green,
For every Homemaker, who canned that lima bean,
For every Homemaker, who set her table with grace.
For every Homemaker, who holds a special place,
For every life she touched and for all the love she shared
This was done as a homemaker, just because she cared.

UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE
COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE

The Cooperative Extension Service is an off-campus educational arm of the University of Kentucky and Kentucky State University. It was established by Congress with the Smith-Lever Act on May 8, 1914 ... "To aid in sharing among the people of the United States, useful and practical information on subjects relating to agriculture and home economics, and to encourage application of the same." It is one of the world's largest informal educational and developmental organizations. Nearly every county in each of the fifty United States has a local Extension Service, with state headquarters at that state's Land-Grant University.

The term "Cooperative" describes the unique method of financing the Extension Service. A combination of federal, state and county monies make educational programs available to all people in the state.

Educational programs of the Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service serve all people regardless of race, color, age, sex, religion, disability, or national origin.
