Police Department
The City of Cynthiana Police Department is a full-service department comprising 20 certified officers and two full-time school resource officers. The Police Department is manned twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. The physical location of the department is at 420 E. Pleasant Street.
All officers of this department are graduates of the Police Academy sponsored by the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) of Richmond, Kentucky. DOCJT is a nationally recognized agency that provides state-of-the-art training to law enforcement officers in Kentucky. All officers are required to attend 40 hours of in-service training annually.
The Cynthiana Police Department is fortunate to have the latest technology at its disposal. The E911 LINC system is a valuable tool, giving them access to information nationwide, and a drone unit consisting of a DJI Matrice 210 with Flir capabilities.
In addition to ensuring the City’s Code of Ordinances is being enforced, the Police Department has the tremendous responsibility of maintaining a peaceful, safe community.
They also provide police escorts for funerals and direct traffic for special functions. The Police Department also checks the homes of absent homeowners and performs routine business checks. Officers are also very visible to the community through our Bicycle and Segway Patrol programs.
Each year, our Police Department participates in the annual Shop-with-a-Cop program that helps needy children in our community.
