In order to conduct business within the City of Cynthiana city limits, a business license must be acquired.  Anyone conducting business in the City of Cynthiana is required to file and pay an annual Net Profit Fee of 1.5% (a minimum of $50) per federal income tax reporting forms.

If a business has employees, the employees are subject to a 1.5% occupational license fee. The employer is required to withhold 1.5% of employee’s salary and remit the amount to the City on a quarterly basis. At the end of the calendar year, a reconciliation form is required. Failure of the employer to withhold this fee does not relieve the employee of the liability.
