The City of Cynthiana was established in 1793 along the banks of the South Fork of the Licking River. Cynthiana is located in the “golden triangle”, 28 miles from Lexington, 90 miles from Louisville, and 60 miles from Cincinnati, and has served for many years as the hub of commerce, education, and government for Harrison County and surrounding communities.

Change in Siren Test - City sirens will be tested weekly on Wednesdays at noon, beginning Feb 6.  Sirens had been tested monthly on the first Tuesday at 7 pm.  These sirens are to alert citizens of threatening weather.

May 7 - Wedco District Health Department and Harrison Memorial Hospital are joining forces to provide Cooper/Clayton Stop Smoking Classes. The Classes meet every Wednesday at noon and at 5 p.m. in the Executive Dining room at the hospital for twelve weeks. No registration necessary, just show up! The Class is free and open to the public. Nicroderm Patches are provided as long as supplies last. May 15 - The Harrison County Historical Society meets the third Thursday of each month (except December) at 7:00PM at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library community room. The public is invited to attend. Membership in the society is $12 per year and can be sent to the Society at PO Box 411,Cynthiana, KY 41031.
May 20 - Do you have diabetes or a family member and wonder where you can get some education or support? Wedco District Health Department offers a meeting at the Harrison County Health Center Community Room, (park in back) on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
